Guides for students: what to study and what to do
October 19, 2026
Student guides for what to study, how to choose a major, and how to find what you want to do. A major is a bet you can revise, not a self.
School asks you to pick a major as if the pick were a self. It is a container: skills, time with a subject, sometimes a license, always a bill. The guides below keep that container the size it actually is.
If you are not in school, the wider shelf is career and work. The whole library is start here with every guide.
What to study
What should I study if you are still undecided is the page for the form. It covers an undecided major, the years after high school, and the strange flatness after college when the schedule ends. The method is ordinary: sample a boring week in the field, read the requirements you would hate, and price the years.
A personality result is optional color. The comparison, if you already have a type and you want to know what it cannot do, is Meridian Reading versus personality tests. Do not declare a major from a type.

What you want, before the job title
How to find what you want to do in life separates pull, cost, and a trial. Use it when the major question is really "who am I supposed to become."
How to find what you want to do in life, really is the companion page. It takes apart a purpose quiz and uses the last month as evidence. Read it when a test result is pretending to be a plan.
How to find meaning in life again, this season is for when the question is a commitment, not a course catalog.
How to find out who you really are is for when a role, including "student," is about to be mistaken for the whole pattern.
A first path, once options exist
How to pick a career is the filter for named options: walls, the Tuesday work, and an on-ramp you can actually reach.
How to pick a career when you are not sure yet is for when you cannot tell a field from a seat. That shows up in internships as often as it shows up at forty.
How to decide between two jobs or career paths splits quit, move, and a change of work. A first job, a city, and a relationship do not have to move in the same month.
What season of life am I in matters if you are treating graduation as a personality change. The schedule ended. That is not the same as a self ending.
No direction in life at 30, existential crisis is useful before thirty, too, if several lives are still easy to imagine and you are trying to live all of them by Friday.
How to make a big life decision at a crossroads is a page you can work on paper when the choice is larger than a major.
Meridian Reading is not a school counselor, and it is not therapy. If you need care, a clinician comes first. If you want the document, it is a 22-section reading labeled Full, Clear, and Working. The sample reading shows the shape. It will not choose your major.
