Why Meridian will not give you four letters

Many Meridian clients arrive with a four-letter type already in their email signature. They are not looking for another label. They are looking for something a label cannot carry.

What MBTI offers

The Myers-Briggs framework sorts people into sixteen types from four dichotomies (Introversion/Extraversion, Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling, Judging/Perceiving). It is widely used in workplaces as shared vocabulary. It is often free through an employer. It is fast.

Reliability is a documented concern. Many people receive a different type on retest. That does not make the framework useless for team conversation. It does limit how much weight to put on any single result as a permanent identity statement.

What Meridian offers instead

Meridian does not assign a type. It delivers a document with conviction-labeled reflections across twenty-two sections: Signature axes, chronological map, forward arc, tells, leverage, body and energy, lineage, geography, and a direct answer to your submitted question.

Some sections carry Full Conviction (near-total agreement across lenses). Some carry Working Conviction (useful pattern under observation). Some stay silent when lenses do not agree strongly enough to speak.

Silence is a feature. A type label cannot be silent about you.

Honest tradeoffs

MBTI wins on speed, cost through employers, and shared language in meetings. Meridian wins on particularity to your inputs, timing context, and a structure built to reread when your chapter changes.

Meridian is none of the things MBTI is good at, and was not built to be.

Who should use which

Use MBTI when you need a common shorthand with colleagues this quarter.

Use Meridian when you want an outside mirror on longer-arc questions, with explicit uncertainty labels, that you can challenge and send back to us when it misses.
