Name-based readings treat the birth name as the product. Meridian uses the name you were given at birth as one fact among others, including parents and the shared birth moment.
Some shops treat the name you were given at birth as the whole method. Change a letter, change the fortune. That can be absorbing as a parlor read. It is a narrow machine.
Meridian asks for the name at birth because it actually moves the reading. A later chosen name is less useful here. We say that in intake on purpose. The name is not the document. It is one of the facts that distinguish you from someone born next to you.
Same minute, different people
Two people can be born in the same hospital on the same day at the same minute. Clock and place alone make them look interchangeable. Add two different names and two different sets of parents, and the sameness breaks. Meridian is built around that break. Timing and place still matter. So do lineage years. So does the name recorded at birth.
Parents' birth years are part of that rest. Two people with similar names, born a minute apart in the same ward, still have different lineage. That is not a flourish. It is one of the reasons the two documents should not read like twins.
